You would not expect a bum on the street, for example, to have an amazing voice....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6letlAjS1d0
The norms of our society make these stereotypes, which is why we are surprised when we see anything different.Beth Travershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03997623299683566210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4508664178374133355.post-71439138333840830182011-10-16T09:41:17.648-07:002011-10-16T09:41:17.648-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Beth Travershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03997623299683566210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4508664178374133355.post-40823369179765324402011-10-15T14:41:47.338-07:002011-10-15T14:41:47.338-07:00The higher classes do have a majority of white stu...The higher classes do have a majority of white students. I have been thinking that it was mainly because of economics, but this reading has introduced me to the idea that it is by choice. Why would students choose to be in a class with kids that are nothing like them? It seems like more kids are like Jeremy (73) and will pick classes that are lower just to fit in and stay with their friends. This is a great skit that supports many of Carter's ideas of "acting black" and the cultural markers that support our identity.Diana Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04629950138612036120noreply@blogger.com
